Carlos A. Dengo is the president of the environmental consulting firm CDG Environmental Advisors.  The firm works in the areas of corporate social and environmental responsibility, environmental and social certification, land use planning, and environmental compliance and remediation.

Mr. Dengo currently is serving as senior environmental coordinator and advisor for the ECOS group, for Grupo Pelón, and Grupo ACI, the firm CDG, is in charge of the environmental impact prevention and planning for many important housing and tourism projects throughout Costa Rica.

He was also a member of the Committee for Forest Classification Certification, an interdisciplinary group in charge of defining criteria and strategies for forest classification and certification in Costa Rica. 

Previously he worked as an independent Environmental Consultant, where he participated in the coordination of environmental impacts statements, environmental management system design and implementation, and environmental risk analysis and evaluation; for projects such as hydroelectric power plants, medical supplies manufacturing, textile industries, and agro-industrial activities.

Mr. Dengo was Environmental Coordinator for VICESA, a glass foundry and silicate extraction mine during the period of 1997-1999.  Environmental impact statements, compliance auditing, and permitting were among the main duties for which he was responsible.  During this period Mr. Dengo also became a certified lead auditor in ISO 14000 guidelines, both with the Caribbean Council of Accreditation; and the Spanish  Association for Standardization.

During the year of 1996 Mr. Dengo was member of a student-faculty research project in charge of developing a model contract for Joint Implementation agreements according to Framework Convention on Climate Change (FCCC) and Agenda 21 of the 1992 Rio Earth Summit.  The project took into consideration environmental, social, and legal aspects for the parties involved.

Mr. Dengo served, in 1995, as Assistant to World Weather Watch Program Director.  He participated in developing guidelines for environmentally sensitive management of refugee camps in Africa.  He also participated in creating procedures and environmental criteria needed to improve response time in United Nations emergency assistance.  The criteria and information evaluated was mainly climatological and meteorological data, as well as relevant information for flood hazard predictions, landslide and mudflow risk assessment, and drought conditions.

Carlos A. Dengo, hold’s a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources Management, with minors in Watershed Management and Environmental Economics, from Colorado State University, he also holds a Master’s of Science degree in Forest Resources Conservation and Natural Resources Management and Economics from the University of Florida.
 
Mr. Dengo is fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.  He was born in 1973, and has lived in 7 countries.  He is married and currently resides in San José, Costa Rica.

 

José R. Dengo es el Vice Presidente y Gerente de Proyectos de CDG Environmental Advisors. El Sr. Dengo está encargado de coordinar el desarrollo de proyectos nuevos, desde las etapas iniciales del proceso de permisos y preparación de documentos de evaluación ambiental, hasta la fases final de seguimiento y monitoreo de desempeño ambiental una vez inicia la construcción.

Actualmente monitorea 7 proyectos de índole commercial, residencial y turístico, con 6 proyectos más listos para iniciar construcción en los próximos meses. El Sr. Dengo fue responsable de coordinar la preparación del Documento de Evaluación Preliminar D1 para el Proyecto MTA-AMEGA, una de las mayores obras de infraestructura jamás propuestas en el país.

El Sr. Dengo tiene más de tres años de experiencia trabajando para CDG Environmental Advisors. Sus responsabilidades principales incluyen la coordinación de Documentos de Evaluación Preliminar (D1 y D2), preparación de estudios ambientales (PGA y EsIA), monitoreo in situ de construcciones activas, evaluaciones de debido proceso ambiental, y manejo de relaciones entre partes interesadas para diversos proyectos.

El Sr. Dengo es graduado en Manejo de Recursos Naturales de Cornell University, y es candidato a Master en Legislación Ambiental de la Universidad Para La Cooperación Internacional. Ha completado un curso de certificación en Arbitraje Empresarial del Centro Latinoamericano para Arbitraje Empresarial, y es graduado del Programa en Gerencia de la Sostenibilidad 2007 del INCAE. El Sr. Dengo está debidamente inscrito en el Colegio Profesional de Ingenieros Agrónomos, al igual que en el registro de consultores ambientales de la SETENA.

El Sr. Dengo ha vivido en cinco países y habla Español, Inglés, Francés y Portugués. Nació en 1982 y actualmente reside en San José, Costa Rica.
